Customer Reviews / Sticky & Sweet Tour [Blu-ray]
The producers took the (high quality) concert footage as starting material only and *heavily* edited it: cuts, more cuts, lots of slightly accelerated or slowed pieces, and quite some CGI overlays. More often than not the result is good and matches the music.
But sometimes I was disappointed - especially in "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You" where they lost most of the fantastic translucent effects by zooming in too much. One star off for that.
Madonna is truly the Queen - this concert was fantastic - she just gets better and better - at 51 years old she is just rocks...
I saw this concert in Los Angeles and was blown away by the refreshed versions of classic songs. As my seats were far from the stage (Dodger Stadium) I didn't get to see details (tickets were $160 but worth every penny.) I was praying she would release this as a full length DVD (I saw her Re-Invention tour years earlier and was so disappointed she didn't release the full show on DVD.)
While this show isn't quite as theatrical as her past shows, she doesn't disappoint. I LOVE the new versions of old classics. Nothing "tired" or "old" about it. Music 2008, La Isla Bonita 2008, and especially Like a Prayer 2008 and Vogue 2008 are, in my opinion, fantastic. In fact, I love that she sang so many classic songs at this concert (which is good because although I am a life-long Madonna fan, I didn't really go crazy for "Hard Candy".)
The only thing that could have made it better would have been if the guest appearances by Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears was shown. Hearing the crowd go nuts when they appeared on the stage gave me goose bumps!
The added Bonus Features are great too. It's always cool to get a sneak peak at the behind the scenes action and and to see what incredible work goes into preparing for one of Madonna's elaborate shows. And having the live cd is fantastic.
If you didn't get to see the live show then don't miss out, buy the DVD/CD. And even if you did see the live show, buy it anyway so you can re-live the experience. I will never forget the moment the crowd cheered and went wild when the newly elected Obama's face came up on the big screen (not featured in this version of the show) Nor will I forget the nearly 3 hours (normally a 20 minute drive from where I was) it took to get to the show, because of the gay and lesbian rights protest going on in Hollywood that night.
A fun, lively and fresh concert!
This DVD and CD are fantastic-love to watch the DVD almost everyday-It is my favorite of Madonna's tours.
First of all, Madonna looks great on this Music Blu-ray.
The quality of visuals and sounds are so great that I felt that if
I am standing the edge of the stage.
The volume of this live was a lot that I could not finish watching
on first night. Only thing that I did not care for was Madonna swearing
out of excitement, though it was funny.
